Walk Beside Me

Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow.
Don't walk behind me; I may not lead.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.

City Mice in the Country

My little city mouse accompanied me to the 'country' today.
Though only a 30 minute drive, it seems like worlds away from
our big community in the 'burbs.
We were lucky enough to visit our friends
{{and borrow an adorable owl hat!}}
and take some pictures on their property.
Don't city mice look happy in the country?

Eleven Months

Our sweet, sweet boy.
We love you when you are still.
We love you when you are seeking a thrill.
We love you when you are loud.
We love you when you are proud.
{{You have so much to be proud of!
Already you are so smart, so handsome, and so strong.}}
We love you when you cry.
{{Even between the hours of two and five in the morning.}}
We love you when you pretend to be shy.
We love you.
We love you.
We love you.
For your smiles, your curiosity, your determination, your laughter.
For your hugs and sloppy kisses.
For your wiggles.
We love you.

Happy Eleven Months, Alekzander!
Love,
Mama & Dada

Rock Stars

Alekzander must have known something BIG {{8 tons BIG}} was happening on Saturday morning.  He woke up around 5:30 and refused to go back to sleep.  At exactly 7 A.M., we walked downstairs to watch a mini-forklift offload four pallets of chocolate grey rocks.  Nevermind that it was pitch black outside still and 40 degrees (and all of our neighbors were still trying to sleep); we decided our little guy might like to see the big machine and the extra large tractor trailer full of our rocks and yards upon yards of sod.   Quite the excitement for an early morning!  Alekzander especially liked checking out the rocks once the sun was up ... and after he had an early morning nap.

OH!  So this is what Dada gets to play with all day?!

A Day on the Farm

This afternoon, we spent some time on Hunter Farm celebrating a sweet two year old's birthday!  We took a hayride on a covered wagon pulled by a tractor, watched the big kids feed the animals, picked out some pumpkins, and absolutely loved spending time with our friends on the farm.

Cheesy Toes

Alekzander has become quite the little chatterbox.  His little voice is the sweetest thing.  His repertoire of mama.nanana.dadas are strung together with purpose and inflection.  I wish I knew what he was talking about!  He probably is telling me that I'm a little crazy.  Or maybe a lot of silly!

We took a big adventure to the grocery store.  So big that I came prepared with two snacks and a purse full of toys!  While we were walking around (and around and around ... we visited the baking aisle at least four times), we chatted.  About food that looked good.  Recipes "we" wanted to try.  We discussed unit prices.  Remembered that we had no room in the freezer.  Rationalized buying six cans of pumpkin.  You know, normal grocery store talk.  Until we stopped and waited in line to check out.  I had to clean both of our hands with antibacterial wipes, open our yet-to-be purchased package of string cheese, and break it into tiny pieces to ward off a slightly frustrated, overtired fuss.  Alekzander thinks he is so BIG and wanted to feed himself the cheese ... whole from the package.  The result was a slobbery, gummy mess and a happy baby.  Part of the gummy mess made its way down to my flip-flopped feet, and I exclaimed (probably a little too loudly), "Ew yuck, Alekzander, I have cheese between my toes!"  To which Alekzander replied with a string of syllables and a big smile!

Triple Sweet

Triple slippery.
Three babes in a tub.
Triple the giggles.
Three silly, silly kids.
Triple freshness.
Three clean little bodies.
Triple sleepwear.
One pair of footy pajamas, two pairs of big girl pajamas.

Triple snuggles.
Three little friends.
Triple sweet.

Mutual Fans

 We happen to adore these two little girls.

And they're quite fond of Alekzander, too.
He's so lucky to have such fun friends [and neighbors].
We can't wait to watch them [and Blondetourage #3] grow up together!
