Roasting

Alekzander had his first lesson in roasting marshmallows 

on his birthday at West End Wreaths.

He didn't, however, eat the marshmallow. 

He didn't actually know that you are supposed to eat it.

He may have touched the marshmallow to the ashes several times.

It may not have even browned.

He probably thought we were absolutely crazy.  

I guess the lesson was unsuccessful, but he sure is cute.

And big!

Gruffalo's Garage

 It makes my heart so happy to see Alekzander with his Gruffalo {my dad}.  On Thanksgiving day, Alekzander and Gruffalo sat together on the back porch and played "tools."  On Friday, Alekzander took Gruffalo on a tour of the property, and together they climbed hills that my dad had never seen.  Its not a suprise that Alekzander found his way into Gruffalo's garage {and his heart!}.  Even when I was growing up, I loved watching him build and create.  {The smell of sawdust will always be one of my favorite smells.}  I am sure that as Alekzander gets older and bigger, Gruffalo will have a great, loyal helper.

A Mountain Birthday

At one, you were silly and {a little} sneaky.  So smart and even sweeter.

At the beginning of two, you are our sweetest boy.

A perfect parrot :: in delivery and context.

A tackler and a runner.  {You are so strong and so fast!}

 A sensitive soul.

A free spirit who loves to 'pin and dance and sing.

A hug giver. An Eskimo kisser.

You are Alekzander.

Our sweetest boy.

And we are so thankful 

to be your Mommy and Daddy.

A Rockin' Party

 What's a party without family, friends, sweet treats, and a little S.W.A.G?!

We had so much fun celebrating despite a wet, chaotic start to the party.

As nearly 30 children and adults crowded into our house

at the beginning of the party due to some {unforecasted} rain, 

a wise, sweet friend reminded me that all the people 

that were packed inside our humble home

were here because they love Alekzander.

I was both humbled and grateful in that moment.

{I was also thankful in the minutes afterwards that the rain let up

and we were able to move the party back outside!}

Its hard to believe this little guy will be 2 years old in just over a week.

It is an understatement to say that he has rocked our world.

He is {and always will be} our little rockstar.

Alekzander truly rocks!
