Priceless Island Time

tucked into an empty boathouse waiting out a storm.
hanging out in the hammock.
lulled to sleep during a polaris ranger ride.
guarding the cooler.
playing with bryson.
rowing in the boathouse.
enjoying family time.

priceless.

Great Lake Days

At the Rusyn Camp on Lake Ontario, its hard not to have a great day.  You can't help but enjoy sitting on the porch, listening to the waves, putting your toes in the sand, and hanging out with family.  Bonfires and barbecues - complete with Uncle Bob's tunes - filled our night, but by day, Alekzander was a beach baby in the making.  He battled the waves and tasted the sand.  And we watched and drank it all in.  Mesmerized by our sweet boy.

Penguins, Monkeys, and Tigers

 Oh my!

::Burnett Park Zoo - Syracuse, NY::

Elephants

Today we saw real, live elephants.
They were not blue
but they were
big,
beautiful,
albeit a little dirty,
graceful,
strong,
nothing short of amazing.

And then we found the cutest little elephant trainer
... and his proud parents.

Eight Months

Our sweet boy is eight months old today.
Time has flown by.
We cherish every beautiful moment.

Trucks and Trains

Alekzander got his first truck and train from GPS and Grandma.
His sweet little bum fits nicely in the bed of the truck.
And the train makes all sorts of animal and train noises!

What fun to be a mommy of a little boy!

Still

Today Alekzander couldn't stay still!

Even while he was nursing - in a new sitting up, straddling mama's leg kind of way- he wasn't at rest.  He'd eat for less than 30 seconds and then crawl off to the edge of the bed, look back at me and smile.  And then come back for more.  Again and again.  I try not to let bad habits form, but sometimes Alekzander's little antics are just too cute to stop and correct.

After his big boy dinner (solids) of butternut squash and chicken, he did close to 12 laps around his room.  (I am hopeful this will help him sleep through the night??) I was lint rolling his little round carpets and he would follow the roller and my hand - back and forth and back and forth - with his eyes and then sprint off to a different corner of the room.  When I ran to my room to put away some towels, I heard him crawl to his (closed) door.  When I came back, I announced that I was coming and I heard him turn away, and then slap, crawl, slap, crawl away from the door.  He was about 3 feet from the door by the time I opened it... looking back at me smiling.

He was truly a crazy boy today.  I loved it.  I keep telling him that he makes me laugh because he is so silly.  The faces he makes, the sounds he makes ... he knows he's cute... precious... adorable... funny... entertaining... beautiful.  Take your pick.  Above all, I hope he knows he's loved.

My First Tool Bench

Every little guy needs a tool bench.
(and coordinating outfit)
And what could be better than a musical one?
This one laughs, plays songs, and teaches colors, numbers, and letters.
It appears that Alekzander enjoys checking out the construction
of his tool bench more than actually playing with it.

Faces of Determination

Blue Elephants

Have you ever seen a blue elephant?
They seem to only exist in baby-land.
In "real life," the prospect of seeing a blue elephant is doubtful.
But in baby-land, they flourish.
How many can you spot in the picture below?
