Gruffalo

What is a Gruffalo, you ask?

According to Julia Donaldson, the author of The Gruffalo,
"A gruffalo!  Why, didn't you know?"

"He has terrible tusks, and terrible claws, and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws.
He has knobbly knees, and turned-out toes, and a poisonous wart at the end of his nose.
His eyes are orange, his tongue is black; he has purple prickles all over his back."

But, according to me,
our Gruffalo is warm, and kind, and giving.
He has the perfect lap for his first grandchild.
He has warm brown eyes.  And silky black hair.
He has a humongous heart and an "I'll do anything for you" mentality.
(including shopping alone at the outlets for a 3 hats for Alekzander,
driving down the mountain to stock our fridge in return for some snuggles,
making pizza and pepperoni rolls, and
much. much. much. more.)
He has a taste for great food, and the talent to make it!
He is quiet and he is gentle.

He is ours. And we were so lucky to spend the day with him!

QT at USNWC

While I don't love crowds, I do love quality time spent with my precious little family.   After watching fireworks with 10,000 other people the night before, we headed out to the U.S. National Whitewater Center for a healthy dose of sunshine, live music, exploring, and people watching. Thousands of people were there as well to enjoy whitewater rafting, rock climbing, zip line-ing, adventure course-ing, mountain bike riding, and trail running.

Among the many freedoms we experience each day, today, on our nation's Independence Day, we freely chose to:  attend church, spend quality time with our son, run on wooded trails, listen to live music, and enjoy nature's beauty along with thousands of other proud Americans.
