A Whim and a Win

Andrew is a great expectation manager,
but a trip Uptown to try to get scalped tickets
for Alekzander's first Panthers' game
exceeded all expectations.
On a whim, Andrew decided to
try to take Alekzander
to the Panthers - Saints game.

It was a perfect storm of wet weather,
the Saints in town with a losing record,
an injured Drew Brees,
and a risk-taking, negotiating Daddy ...
and the big boys gained entrance
to the Panthers game for a fraction
of the face value on the tickets
and had awesome seats right in the end zone.

Though the game was loud and a little overwhelming,
Alekzander enjoyed his first NFL game
and was especially happy to report the Panthers' win!

Truths of Two

Oh, this little love.
It is a good thing he is cute
because he is giving us a run for our money.
In a matter of days, he busted his lip twice,
fell down the stairs, darted to the road,
and skinned his knee.
He makes frequent demands "right now!"
and cries crocodile tears almost daily.
He is two ... the truest, the 'two-est' of two!

But he has the biggest heart.
He prays for Mia and Tessa and Baby Butt.
He cried the other night when I was leaving
and clearly said, "Mommy, don't leave me."
He loves to give one more hug after you put him in his crib,
and without fail, he will kiss you on the mouth if you pretend to pout.

He recounts the details of his day,
can recite Buddy's books from school,
and knows how to spell Alekzander's name in a song.
He is smart and cute, cuddly and strong.
He makes us laugh,
amazes us with his vocabulary,
and charms us with his snuggles.

Anderson,
we'll take the two-ness of you
because we love you sooooo much.

Follow Me!

At first glance, I thought this was Alekzander,
but it is, indeed, our little tank, Anderson.
Seemingly big for a two year old,
his personality is even bigger.
And it has to be since he has Alekzander for a big brother.
Alekzander can be shy in new social situations {clearly my son},
but at home and when he is comfortable,
he is a loud leader ... to put it mildly.
It is no surprise that Anderson's personality has mirrored
his big brother's, and at times,
it is just necessary to be louder in order to be bossier!

One of our favorite books is called Gossie and Gertie
where two geese best friends follow each other around on an adventure.
One goose spends the whole book saying, "follow me, follow me!"
as she ends up following the other goose.
The boys reminded me of Gossie and Gertie:
Anderson with his "map" in hand
ready to lead the way, saying 'This way, follow me'
as big brother sprinted past
leaving little brother behind.

Beach Day

It makes this mama's heart happy to see
both kids so at home on the beach.
Sand between their toes,
eyes wide in wonder of the waves.

After seeing two sharks caught and released
within 12 hours, we opted for sand play,
but could not stop some shallow surf splashing.
Drip castles and shell hunting
kept us busy for hours
before the majority of the tourists were even awake!

Sunshine and Apples

We like to eat sunshine and apples for breakfast at the beach!
Such a great way to wake up -
sand, sun, waves, water,
and two boys with joy, joy, joy in their hearts.

I love you sooooooooo much.
