The Best Way

 The best way to eat ice cream ...

This boy makes me laugh.  Every day!

Truth be told, Alekzander has had ice cream maybe twice in his life.  Deprived, I know.  But apparently the two times he has tasted ice cream made a lasting impression.  When the infamous birthday party question, "Who wants cake and ice cream?" was asked, he ran behind the crowd {of 5 kids} and danced in place until he got escorted to his seat.  And then he blatantly ignored the spoon in his hand and dove right in... face first.  Absolutely acceptable when you're almost two.  And pretty stinkin' cute too.

A great cause. 

And Alekzander's only sweet indulgence.

Yogurt is good for you right?  Even if it is frozen. 

Especially if it is non-fat and sugar free!

We will absolutely be there.  Dessert before and after dinner?!

Why not?  It supports little Rockstars.

Rain Soup

Rainy Day Acorn "Thoup" 

{aka Alekzander's Soup}

To prepare this "thoup" you must take your job very seriously.

 

Find/identify your "thoup" vessel {ie: your little yellow tractor}

Use fresh rain water that was collected in your chosen vessel {2-4 inches}
10-15 acorns {unclaimed by the squirrels}
2 handfuls of grass/weeds {tear directly out of the ground}
The remnants of about 10 cone flowers {middle only}

Mix your "thoup" thoroughly with your hands

 

Do not taste! But enjoy the process.

Follow Through

 It impresses me how Alekzander's mind works.  

At {almost} 22 months, he is problem solving and planning while playing.  

We sit back a lot and watch things unfold rather than intervene or interrupt.

The results usually make us laugh or shake our heads in amazement.

Step One :: Park an empty dump truck at the edge of the flower bed.

Step Two :: Get Mom-mee to chase you around and around the flower bed.

Step Three :: Pick up the football and basketball.

Step Four :: Keep running.

Step Five :: Drop off the football and basketball in the truck.

Step Six ::  Run to find another ball.

Step Seven :: Balance the third ball in the truck.

Step Eight :: Step back to admire the full truck.

Step Nine :: Dump truck.

Step Ten :: Search for acorns to fill the back of the truck.

Allowance

Alekzander earned his first allowance on Saturday.  While we were playing outside and constantly stepping on acorns, Andrew told Alekzander that he would give him a penny for every acorn he collected.  Sure enough, Alekzander got his tractor and started collecting acorns.  32 over the course of play.  He'd run, kick a ball, chase Kaila, pick up an acorn, kick a ball, run, pick up 5 acorns ... until he accumulated 32 acorns.  Dada was true to his word and rounded up 2 nickels and 22 pennies which Alekzander later fed, one by one, into his piggy's belly.

There are only about 598 acorns left to pick up.
By the end of the month, Alekzander's piggy might be full!

Taking advantage of the {cooler} weather and new {cool} wardrobe.  

Oh boy, I love this boy.
