Practicing

They're about 18 years too early for high school graduation or 22 years too early for college graduation, but Alekzander and Norah got to practice (in great detail) how to "walk" at Queens' masters' graduation practice on Wednesday.  Here they are strolling from Dana Auditorium to Burwell Lawn.

They even crossed the stage with Lucy and me after sitting through an hour's worth of all the other programs/schools practicing their commencement exercises.  A very silly man on the stage told me that Alekzander needed to be in "that same position" on Friday ... meaning on my hip, crossing the stage.  Oh, silly man, don't tempt me!

Yummmm!

Yesterday I made my first big batch of baby food.  We've fed Alekzander fresh avocado, baked sweet potato, and mashed bananas, but hadn't yet mass produced any of it.  In short, it was a messy production, but it was well worth it!

(I think I spent $2 on the one pound butternut squash and got 15 1-oz servings... which makes it $.13/ounce.)

Clean, cut, and bake butternut squash.
Scoop out "meat" and puree with liquid/milk.
Portion out and freeze.
Thaw in microwave for 30 seconds.
Enjoy!

    First Tooth!

Its official... Alekzander has his first tooth!!

He's been drooling and sucking on his fingers for weeks, but I first noticed a little hole in his gums and a little white peeking through last Monday.  As of yesterday the full top of the rectangular tooth has cut through.  As usual, he was a trooper.  We had one rough night of sleep (but we were also in a different environment...and altitude) and a few days of rosy cheeks, but he was quickly back to his normal, happy, easy-going self!  I'm proud to say this first tooth was cut without the aid of any Tylenol, teething tablets, or old fashioned "tricks".

He's such a sweet and tough little guy!  We can't get enough of him!

    Raindrops of Blessings

    we are so blessed.
    we are healthy and happy.
    we didn't have to worry about whether or not we will have dinner on the table;
we only had to decide what to have.
we didn't have to wait in the rain for public transportation because
we are lucky enough to have two safe, working vehicles.
we have hats to cover our heads and socks to snuggle our toes.

we had many pleasant interactions with numerous people on an average grocery trip (everything is more pleasant when you have a cute five month old in tow).
we have the joy-joy-joy of Christ in our hearts.
we were lucky enough to enjoy storytime at the library again.
we spent time with new friends.
we can hear the rain tapping on the windows but we stay dry because
we have a roof over our heads.
we have opportunities to play, dream, and laugh freely.  daily.
    we are so blessed.

how have blessings been poured on you lately?
